Merino Sheep

The original Taylors Run flock was based on Merryville blood, producing stylish, soft handling traditional bright superfine wool of 18 micron wool. The flock has been selectively bred over time to reduce the micron yield and form a smooth bodied productive animal.

Although each of the four Taylor families has its own country, the flocks are very similar and have in fact been co-managed at certain times. Our former annual combined sheep sale was testament to this.

Merino Wool

Wool grown on the Taylors Run properties is of premium quality 70's, 80's and 90's style, soft and bright superfine wool. We pride ourselves on consistent production for over 160 years. Our average micron measurement is 17.5 um and with an average of 70% yields and >60kN staple strengths from sheep grazed on native and improved pastures.

Our wool is purchased and used by many of the top processors and spinners in the world. Until recently most of our wool was forward sold to the well known Italian processor, Giovanni Schneider. Merino wool from Taylors Run has gone into some the finest fabrics in the world including Carlos Barbera of Italy.
